Easy Low Carb Cheesecake Recipe

Monday, November 30th, 2009
Tony Newton asked:

People love having desserts after their meals but when you are on a low fat diet, then you have to be very careful about the ingredients of the desserts you eat. Cheesecake is a popular dessert with thousands of people all over the world. So finding a low carb cheesecake recipe would mean you can still enjoy your favourite dessert whilst still maintaining the rules of your particular diet.

Any important part of preparing your low carb cheesecake recipe is to have all the ingredients standing in room temperature for ideally 30-45 minutes before using them. Once this is done you can then make the cheese more soft by placing it into the microwave for just a few seconds. Then mix all the ingredients together and place into the oven. Once you take the cheesecake from the oven, brush some butter around the sides of it.

Another tip when preparing your cheesecake recipe is to have a small pan filled with water below the cheesecake in the oven. This helps to keep everything moist and just remember to leave it alone whilst baking and don’t open the oven door. Once it is cooked you should ideally then place it in the fridge for a couple of days. When removed from the fridge, leave it to stand until it reaches room temperature. This is the perfect way to prepare your low carb cheesecake recipe and have an ideal dessert which will keep frozen for several months if you choose.

So this low carb cheesecake recipe will make it easier for you to stick to your diet, whether it be the Atkins diet or another popular low carb diet. You don’t have to starve yourself on any diet so just try to enjoy it as much as you can.

Yogurt Fruit Dip Recipes

Sunday, November 29th, 2009
Dale Heil asked:

Yogurt is good for you and will add additional nutrients in grand style to a boring plate of fruit. This is especially important when serving children or guests who may not be as health conscious as you are.

Yogurt is one of your more healthful food choices and can be incorporated into many inexpensive healthy recipes.

Yogurt fruit dip recipes are much healthier than a marshmallow fluff fruit dip or dipping fruit in chocolate. That may sound like heresy to many folks but it’s true.

So, what fruit dip recipes are available?

You can begin with plain yogurt or one already flavored. Many fruit flavored yogurts are available as well as lemon, cinnamon, and other exotic spicy flavors.

Any addition to your yogurt based fruit dip is limited only by our imagination. Coconut, finely ground nuts, grated orange peel, flaxseed, poppy seed, or even pumpkin seeds can be added to your concoction. Each adds its own distinct flavor and visual appeal to your dip.

Remember, you only want to add items you like. This is your recipe so don’t put anything in it you don’t enjoy eating regardless of what the recipe calls for.

There are different ways you can serve your yogurt fruit dip. Naturally, you can cut the fruit so it can be picked up by hand (have toothpicks available so your guests can skewer their favorite piece of fruit) or you can cut larger fruits into thick slices so the dip can be spooned or ladled on top.

In the case of spooning dip onto pieces of fruit you should have small plates and forks available otherwise it will get messy. Colorful paper or plastic plates with plastic spoons and forks can be coordinated to match a holiday or party theme.

These are a few tried-and-true favorites:

Fruit-Yogurt Dip

One eight-ounce (8 oz.) container of plain yogurt (regular, fat-free, or low-fat is your choice)
One-tablespoon honey (it is absorbed less abruptly than table sugar so it doesn’t disrupt your body as much)
Two-tablespoons of pureed fruit. Look for small jars of pureed fruit in the baby food section of your supermarket. Peach, pear, and apple work well.

Combine all ingredients, whisk together with a wire whip, cover, and chill.

Serve with a dash of cinnamon, tablespoon of shredded coconut, or tablespoon of finely ground nuts (walnuts or pecans work well) on top as a garnish. You can restrict yourself to only one of these toppings or place a small bit of each in a “pie slice” formation to add variety.

Fourth-Of-July Fruit Dip Display

Place three small bowls on a larger plate. Use raspberry yogurt in one, blueberry yogurt in the second and the recipe above without garnishes as the third.

Now you have the red, white, and blue!

Place garnishes on the side so your guests can add them as they see fit.

There are many flavors of yogurt, each having its own distinct color, so you can be very creative with the color scheme for your parties or social gatherings.

Honey-Flavored Fruit Dip

One eight-ounce (8 oz.) container of plain yogurt (regular, fat-free, or low-fat is your choice)
Four tablespoons of honey

Combine all ingredients, whisk well, cover, and chill. Garnish with cinnamon. You can place a small section on cinnamon stick to one side of the serving bowl to add interest to your presentation.

Well, there you have a few of the many yogurt fruit dip recipes available. Be creative and make your own yogurt fruit dip recipes by standing in front of the yogurt display at your supermarket and allowing your imagination to run wild.
