In the age of the “diet” finding the best one for you and your body can be difficult. You need a food plan that not only sustains you, fills you up, but is also a healthy mixture of all the food on that magnificent food pyramid.

One of the best food plans that I have found is a low carb diet, that tries to not only cut out excessive carbohydrates, but increase healthy foods like fruits and non-starchy vegetables. People who go on the low carb diet say that they feel more energize, have less craving for sugary sweets, have better concentration, are happier, and crave food less.

To help you tackle one of the biggest problems of starting on a low carb diet (finding great tasting foods) here is a great recipe to try:

Almost Pasta Primavera Recipe

This is a delicious recipe, but the trick is to ignore the name, and think of it more as a better, more healthy version of pasta primavera. You will need one spaghetti squash, a cup of broccoli, zucchini, mushrooms and carrots, as well as a clove of garlic, a tablespoon of margarine and skim milk, a half cup of ricotta cheese, a tablespoon of Parmesan cheese, a half tablespoon of butter flavoring, salt, and Italian seasoning, topping it off with an eighth teaspoon of pepper.

First you need to make the base. You need to cut the squash lengthwise and place it in a pan filled with a couple inches of water. Bake for twenty minutes or until it is cooked through. When that is done drain the juice and fork the strands out.

Next the vegetables need to be steamed and stirred into the spaghetti strands from the squash. Sauté the rest of ingredients (garlic, milk, cheese, butter) and pour over the vegetables when cooked and hot.

This may seem like a pasta rip off, but in fact, this is one of the best tasting low carb recipes I have ever tried. It takes all the great flavoring of vegetables, cutting out the almost flavorless pasta that adds so many carb calories to your diet. Enjoy this healthy meal without feeling guilt.
