man, that is so hard! You will probably have to fix them what they want, and fix yourself something different, or just eat a smaller portion. You have to be firm with yourself. At first, any weight loss will not be apparent to others, but once you lose 15-20 pounds, your family will notice and say, hey, you are losing weight. THAT is what will ive you the incentive. I don't know any other way.

this is the downfall of so many dieters, including myself. Same goes for family dinners, eating out and holidays.

Since you are the one doing the cooking, you have to put your foot down! A large protein and starchy meal is never good for anyone late in the evening or as a last meal of the day. No matter how hard they work! What you can do, is make the husband that sort of meal for his lunch, and pack it for him if he doesn't come home to eat. Your kids don't need it either. No matter how slim your children are or aren't there is such a thing as skinny fat. Larger meals should only be eaten at the start and middle of the day so the body has time to use it as fuel. The kids will whine, but remember just who the adult is! Offer only healthy snacks and do not buy soft drinks no matter what!

First off, congrats on being proactive in your health and diet! Keep up the good work! My advice to you is that you can control the childrens diets during the day with snacks of lean proteins, fresh veggies, and fruits so that shouldn't be the issue. You're the mom and you make the food. They should eat what you prepare for them. They don't need bad, sugary food. Growing up my parents didn't even have junk or snack food in the house so it wasn't an option. Now with my own house, I do the same and actually rarely crave sugary or junk food. As for dinner, you don't have to eat the red meat and potatoes. Prepare extra veggies and a big salad for you. You could also maybe switch to chicken or cook a chicken ****** for yourself. Or in the salad throw different nuts in there for some evening protein. But if you are craving what the rest of the family is eating then eat your veggies and leafy greens first along with drinking a glass of water. Then have 3 to 4 oz of the meat/protein prepared and just mind your portions. You should be full by then but if not just keep a lot of veggies on hand to snack on. For dessert (if necessary) make a fruit salad. It's perfect for warm weather and healthy.

Make fish for you and the meat and potatoes for the inconsiderate family members. Make sure to make a salad and extra veggies and stay away from the starch. Stick with it.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tell them that you want to maintain a healthy body, and that they should do the same. Eat chicken (grilled) salad for dinner maybe. Lots of veggies!
Good luck!
Also congrats for making a healthy choice... but don't starve yourself!
