How do you stay on your diet, when your family wants fatty heavy meals in the evenings

I started a walking and diet program about a month ago. The walking is no problem. I walk every morning and have built up to 60 minutes. So proud of myself there. It is the evenings that I have a hard time with. The children or out of school and want to eat 24/7. Also my husband wants meat and potatoes in the evenings after a hard day at work. I made fish, rice and vegetables the other night. An hour later everyone wanted to know when dinner would be ready!!!

I really need to lose this weight. I am 40 and about 50 pounds overweight. Hopefully when the afternoons get a little cooler I will start walking in the evenings for a while also. The scale shows only a 3 pound weight loss. It is so discouraging and I know that it is from breaking the diet and eating unhealthy sometimes at night. Do any of you have suggestions or tips that help you? Thanks in advance.
